There are three types of heroes: Commander, Spy and Diplomat. Each type has it's own set of actions. Each hero has 6 major skills: strength, dexterity, constitution, charisma, wisdom and intelligence.

Tavern gives a choice of 3-5 heroes for hire. Each major skill is random between 5 and 9. One can refresh list of heroes unlimited number of times for free, but it is still hard to get a hero with perfect major skills.

Heroes from ruins have major skills important for their type at 15 and other major skills at 10-12. Such ruins are not common and have only 10% chance to produce a hero.

Starting heroes on alliance and fast servers have major stats around 10.

Heroes get experience and level up from performing actions and participating in fights (only commanders). Each additional level provides one skill point which can be spent to improve one of minor skills.

Each hero type has 3 minor skill trees.

Commander: General, Commanding, Fighting

Spy: General, Spying, Sabotage

Diplomat: General, Management, Diplomacy

In each skill tree skills are divided into tiers. Tier 0 skills can be improved from the start. One needs to improve each skill from the previous tier to be able to improve skills from the next tier. There also are hero level requirements and sometimes additional requirements on levels of previous skills.

Tier 4: (1:30; 2:; 3:; 4:; 5:; 6:; 7:; 8:; 9:; 10:)

Tier 5: (1:40; 2:; 3:; 4:; 5:; 6:; 7:; 8:; 9:; 10:)

Learning: Hero experience gain (1:+2%; 2:+4%; 3:+5%; 4:+7%; 5:+9%; 6:+12%; 7:+15%)

Tier 1:

Loyalty: Hero upkeep (1:; 2:-5%; 3:-7%; 4:; 5:; 6:; 7:; 8:; 9:; 10:)

Tier 2:

Concentration: Hero action cooldown (1:-3%; 2:-4%; 3:; 4:; 5:; 6:; 7:; 8:; 9:; 10:)

Scholarship: Hero action cost (1:-3%; 2:-4%; 3:; 4:; 5:; 6:; 7:; 8:; 9:; 10:)

Tier 3:

Perception: Hero watch radius (1:+1; 2:; 3:; 4:; 5:; 6:; 7:; 8:; 9:; 10:)

Tier 4:

Pathfinding: Army speed / Hero speed (1:+3%/+3%; 2:; 3:; 4:; 5:; 6:; 7:; 8:; 9:; 10:)

Tier 5:

Precise memory: Hero experience gain (1:+3%; 2:; 3:; 4:; 5:; 6:; 7:; 8:; 9:; 10:)

Iron will: Army damage (1:+1%; 2:; 3:; 4:; 5:; 6:; 7:; 8:; 9:; 10:)

Tier 6:

Bonuses from minor skills may depend of major skills or hero type/level.

Commander[edit]

Commander is for fight. Major skills needed: strength, dexterity.

Commander actions depend on support units it has.

List of actions:

  • Excavate ruins (with researcher)
  • Collect resources from a cell (with workers)
  • Camp

...

Spy[edit]

Spy is for spy. Major skills needed: constitution, charisma, wisdom and intelligence.

List of actions:

  • Search for a spy on a tile (1min, cooldown 10min), (provides experience)
  • Cripple enemy hero (roots it in place for approximately 2 hours)
  • Assasinate a hero (prerequisites are not clear)

Diplomat[edit]

Diplomat is for diplomacy. Major skills needed: constitution, charisma, wisdom and intelligence.

List of actions:

  • Explore the ruins (5min?, no cooldown)
  • Explore cell resource
  • Expand alliance territory to a cell (cost grows exponentially by the distance to the closest alliance city)
